Types of Arthritis


There are over 100 types of Arthritis known to human but all of them some common symptoms like pain, swelling, joint stiffness and difficulty on the moving the body part with joints.

Joints of the body like knee, toe, hand, wrist, neck, etc are affected by arthritis. Cartilage and tissues that are present at the joints of the body deteriorates causing the bones to rub against each other. This causes pain and welling while the movement of the joints.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder, which occurs when the body's immune system attacks the joints of the body.

Osteoarthritis is caused when cartilage of the joints starts to wear off. It occurs mostly due to increasing age. This causes pain when the two joints rub against each other.

Psoriatic Arthritis is related to the skin condition psoriasis.

Septic Arthritis is an infection caused by bacteria like Staph in the joint cavity. This infection causes inflammation of a synovial membrane with purulent effusion into the joint capsule.

Gout Arthritis is caused due to the buildup of urate crystals within the joint especially in knee and toe joints.

Lupus Arthritis (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system causes damage to the joints.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is a common arthritis among children and teenagers under the age of 16, which causes swelling, pain, and stiffness in joints.

Cervical arthritis cause pain in the upper back, neck and arms. Cartilage protecting the discs deteriorates and causes this disease.

Pseudo gout arthritis is caused due to build-up of calcium deposits within the joint.

Anklyosing Spondylitis affects the spine and causes lower back pain and stiffness.
