How to Use Tulsi as Medicine

Tulsi is an Ayurvedic herb with heap of medicinal properties of its own. Tulsi can be used as a medicine in various forms. Chewing Tulsi leaves, making a juice from the extracts and even mixing them with other herbs and foods is how we can use Tulsi as a medicine.

Tulsi juice or gel made from its extract is an excellent remedy. One can make it by using grinded Tulsi leaves and water. Add a handful of dried Tulsi leaves and a cup of water to a small saucepan. Extract the natural oils from the leaves by grinding them well. Now put the mixture to flame for about 15 minutes. After removing it from the flame, allow the mixture to cool down. Apply onto acne-affected areas on the skin with a cotton ball twice a day.

Let it be on your skin for half an hour and then wash it off. You can also gently rub an ice cube wrapped in a towel over your face to close the pores.

You can also make a mixture of Tulsi with gram flour. It would make for an excellent treatment number of disorders. It helps as an effective anti-inflammation agent. Grind together some Tulsi leaves with gram flour and aloe vera juice to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to on the affected area. Wash off completely after keeping it for some twenty minutes.

You can also prepare Tulsi tea. It is a useful remedy to cure number of diseases like cough and cold. Use fresh Tulsi. For each cup of tea, put around 15 tulsi leaves into the teapot. Boil water in a saucepan and then pour it over your Tulsi basil leaves.

Boil tea for around 10-12 minutes. You can also add sugar, honey, lemon or milk for adding taste to the tea. Tulsi tea has gained popularity of its health benefits because of its rich antioxidant and adaptogenic properties. Tulsi Tea does not contain caffiene and thus can be an apt replacement for tea and coffee. It helps in bringing down stress levels and also diminishes the effects of stress.
