Home Remedies for Corns and Callus

A large number of populations get benefited from the home remedies for corns and callus. A callus (tyloma) can be defined as a part of skin that condenses due to repetitive pressure in a bid to protect the skin. But when a callus evolves into a mass of dead cells in its midst it is called a corn (heloma). The highly affected body parts from corns are the toes and globes of the feet. The area that got affected with the callus are the feet, hands, and others that come under friction.

Causes of Corns and Callus:

  • Shoes or socks that are not fitting

  • Improper socks or socks with seams that comes in friction with the toe

  • Extraneous hard work labor

  • Having no habit to wear shoes

  • Some sports that add pressure on hands and feet like athletics

  • Bony prominences

  • Sometimes faulty foot function is also responsible for it

Symptoms of Corns and Calluses:

  • Skin is thick and hardened.

  • Skin may be flaky and dry.

  • Hardened, thick skin

  • Mainly appears on the body parts like hands, feet, or parts that are rubbed regularly.

Home Remedies for Corns and Calluses:

  • Application of castor oil over the affected part and taping it with small piece of adhesive tape offers some respite from the callus. One should not use castor oil over broken skin.

  • Soaking feet in Epsom salts is also a good home remedy for corns and calluses.

  • Calendula herbal cream also offers some respite from the callus.

Get proper footwear and avoid footwear with pointed toes and socks with rough seams.
