Basic Principles Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the India's own science of holistic healing revolves around some principles or tenets. These basic principles of ayurveda provide a foundation for the treatment of various diseases faced day-to-day by common people. Going perfectly in sync with its literal meaning that says it's a science of life ayurveda focuses not only on the ailments and its treatments but also the life in holistic way.

Here we elaborate upon the basic principles of ayurveda. For this Indian system of healing human body consists of five elements, which are ether (space), air, fire, water and earth. And any imbalance in these elements has a direct bearing on the health of individuals. This five elements theory is called theory of Panchamahabhutas.

The other prominent principle in Ayurveda is the concept of tridosha that is derived from the Panchamahabhutas. As per this principle, tridosha are three forms of energies that guide the physical, mental and intellectual structure of the body. These three energetic forces are called vata, pitta and Kapha. As per ayurvedic principles our bodies' have unique proportions of these elements that vary from one person to another.

Vata is a dominant combination of ether (space) and air. Vata directs nerve impulses, circulation, respiration and elimination etc.

A dominant combination of Fire and Water form the Pitta Dosha that is responsible for the process of transformation or metabolism. Likewise the dominant combination of water and earth forms Kapha Dosha. Kapha governs growth, adding structure and other related things.

These basic principles of Ayurveda help its practitioners to diagnose and suggest remedies for various ailments faced by common people.
