Home remedies for chickenpox are very common, thanks to prevalence to the disease. Chickenpox is a common childhood disease. This disease is caused by varicella zoster virus. Oatmeal: Oatmeal is an excellent home remedy for chickenpox, as it offers an easy solution to itching that makes the situation worse. One should make organic water of oatmeal. One should boil 2 cups of oatmeal for 15 minutes in 2 liters of water, and then filter this mixture in a tightly closed permeable cotton bag. Allow the bag to float in warm water till the water becomes murkier. This murky water reduces itching substantially.
Brown vinegar:
One should ½ cup of brown vinegar in warm bathwater. This solution reduces the itching to a significant extent. This treatment is very effective in treating the symptoms of chickenpox.
Pea water:
The water left after cooking fresh green pea lessens the itching and hence considered one of the effective home remedies for chickenpox.
Ice cold water:
One should apply a cotton cloth soaked in ice-cold water as it offers a great respite for pain and itching.
Honey:
Honey with its various properties is a good remedy to soothing the blisters.
Carrot and coriander:
Another home remedy is from grocers shop. One can take 100 grams of raw carrots and 60 grams of fresh coriander and boil these things to make a soup. One can take this soup twice a daily to get rid from itching and other symptoms of chickenpox.
Sandalwood oil:
Once you get recovered from the disease the next thing is removing the scars. Here sandalwood comes to your rescue. Use the sandalwood powder by making a paste of it in rose water and allow it to dry for an hour or more before you wash.
Herbal teas:
To get relief from coughing one should try herbal tea consisting of marigold, basil, chamomile, lemon balm and basil.
Fresh juices and vegetable:
Fresh juices and vegetables are considered helpful in recovery from the chickenpox. One should consume a large amount of it till returning back to normal. One should also go for balanced diet as it makes recovery speedier.
Let us go conventional:
One can also resort to the conventional remedies like calamine lotion that offers relief from itching and some non-prescription antihistamines. One should take a lot of fluid to keep body hydrated when hit by chickenpox.
