Home Remedies for Flatulence

Flatulence affects a large part of population hence those affected keep trying home remedies for flatulence to get some relief from this problem. It is the problem in which a mixture of gases release from the rectum that are mostly the byproducts of the digestion.

Causes of Flatulence:

  • Overproduction of bacteria in the stomach

  • Fibrous foods

  • Malt extracts based food items

  • Gastroenteritis and other problems of digestive system

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Bacteria and other organisms

  • Contaminated food or water

  • Food prepared in unhygienic conditions

Symptoms of Flatulence:

  • Gas

  • Belching

  • Abdominal pain

  • Abdominal bloating

  • Change in bowel habit

Home remedies for Flatulence:

  • Make a mixture of 1/2 tsp dry ginger with small amounts of asafoetida and a pinch of rock salt in a cup of warm water. Intake of this mixture helps in reduction of gas.

  • Add 2 tsp of brandy in a cup of warm water and take this mixture before going to bed.

  • Make some slices of ginger and soak it in limejuice. One should chew some slices after the meals everyday to do away with flatulence.

  • One tsp of powdered pepper mixed with equal amounts of dry ginger and a green cardamom seed offers an ideal home remedy for flatulence. Take 1/2 tsp of this mixture with water to get relief from flatulence (gas).

One should keep away from the food items like beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, breads and cheese as these things produces gas. Use of cold drinks should also be kept in check.
