Yoga for Pregnant Women
Giving birth to a baby is the most wonderful experience of every woman. But sometimes childbirth becomes complex and difficult process due to some complications during pregnancy. In those cases yoga for pregnant women is highly recommended and by practicing certain specific yoga the complexity can be reduced to a large extent. There are certain specified yogic exercises, which are specially meant for practice during the time of pregnancy in order to give a normal birth of child. These yoga practices provide the mother with flexibility, stress reduction, improved breathing capacity, increase in inner strength and immunity, which are of immense, need at the time of pregnancy. A child inside the womb needs special care and nourishment for proper growth and development. Yoga helps the mother for getting the same and prepares the mother physically as well as mentally for the changes occurring during and after the birth.
Yoga for pregnant asanas, pranayama, mudras, dhyana(meditation) and yogic nidra( deep relaxation) which are quite beneficial for the l at the time of pregnancy and after pregnancy too.
Asanas are some specific body postures, which help to improve the flexibility of muscles. It also stimulates the respiratory system and maintains a balance between the body and the mind. During the course of pregnancy, various anatomical, physical and physiological changes take place inside the body. Yoga helps the mother to adapt with these changes.
Practicing different asanas during pregnancy builds a balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic system of body by making the spine strong and flexible. This really enhances the confidence of the mother. Yoga helps in fast recovery of mother after birth. Practicing yoga helps in supporting the increased weight of uterus by improving the muscles, abdomen and pelvis. Thus, asanas are beneficial for both the mother and the child.
Pranayama or Breathing exercise regulates the proper supply of oxygen to the mother as well as the fetus, which is extremely important at the time of pregnancy. It provides the mother with mental and physical relaxation too. Pranayama helps in reducing risk of anxiety and high blood pressure in the mother, which are the most common symptoms during pregnancy. It reduces the stress and improves the functioning of nervous system too.
Meditation helps in complete relaxation and revitalization of the mother mentally. It plays an important role in the reduction of reducing stress, distractions, nervousness, fear and tension from the mind, which are the most commonly found in the pregnant woman. A pregnant woman is advised to practice meditation daily to maintain the calmness of the mind, which maintains pulse rate, anxiety level and proper requirement of oxygen in the body.
Yogic Nidra or Savasana:
During pregnancy, it is very necessary for the mother to get a sound sleep and keep herself relaxed and happy. She should feel the inner happiness, which is good during pregnancy. Savasana creates the most favorable conditions for the proper growth and development of child inside the body. It generates positive thoughts in the mind of the mother.
Thus, practice of yoga for the pregnant women is highly recommended for the sake of the child as well as the mother.
